In memoriam: Alper Yargıcı (1977-2015)

Alper Yargıcı, our beloved friend, TATV crew member, and talented composer of incredibly joyful and passionate songs you have heard in TATV programs passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the age of 38. The cause was a glioblastoma brain tumor.

Born February 9, 1977 in Zürich, Switzerland, Alper moved with his family to the United States to finish his last year of high school. He completed his undergraduate degree at Catholic University and his MBA at the University of Maryland Smith Business school. While working in corporate finance and budgeting, Alper also continued to pursue his talent & passion for music, releasing two albums still available on iTunes (“Popular Lane” http://itun.es/us/rV4hh and “Soyleme” http://itun.es/us/LD_Im).

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Yargıcı, his son, Sean Yargıcı, his parents, Mehmet & Zehra Yargıcı, and his brother, Selim Yargıcı.

A short memorial (panikhida) will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 4001 17th St NW, Washington, DC.

The Funeral Service will take place at 11am on Thursday, April 2, at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 4001 17th St NW, Washington, DC.The Burial (approximately 12pm) will be held immediately following the church funeral service at Rock Creek Cemetery in NW Washington, DC.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to Young Artists of America (http://www.youngartistsamerica.org).
