Singer, songwriter and guitarist Nazan Nihal derives the inspiration behind her music through the real-life experiences of others as well as classical Turkish songs. Nazan’s songs are a form of storytelling that express the dynamics of relationships. Furthermore, her song “Paket” translated to “Package” in English garnered her an award in Turkey. Among her accomplishments is a PhD in pharmacy. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts with her husband, Utar Artun.

Composer, film scorer and jazz pianist Utar Artun, began his education in percussion at Hacettepe University, Ankara State Conservatory, graduating in 2008. Following graduation, he pursued his education at Berklee College of Music in Boston and earned several prestigious awards. The husband and wife team are working on  collaborative projects, as our host Goksin Carey puts it they “complete each other.”
