WASHINGTON, D.C. – Open World Leadership Center welcomed 24 judges and prosecutors from Turkey on June 20, 2013. The Turkish rule of law professionals were nominated by the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) of Turkey and vetted by the U.S. Embassy in Ankara.
The Turkish delegation had an intensive orientation in Washington on Friday, June 21, covering topics such as the selection of judges, their education and training, and the functions of the Federal Judicial Center. They toured the Supreme Court.
After the orientation, the delegation attended a reception hosted on their behalf by Turkey’s ambassador to the U.S. The Honorable Namik Tan. Sandra Day O’Connor, retired United States Supreme Court justice, and John O’Keefe, Executive Director at Open World Leadership Center were among the guests.

The Turkish delegation will split into four groups and travel to their ultimate destinations in US for a week. The four hosting communities and their hosts are:
